The six nobody checks
A sound house isn’t the same as a healthy one
A home inspector tells you whether the building is holding up. Nobody looks at what is under the sink, what is growing in the dishwasher gasket, or how old the smoke detectors are. We do.
What’s under the sink
Cleaning and garden chemicals — what is there, what has expired, what is stored next to what, and what a grandchild can reach.
Inside the appliances
Dishwasher gasket and filter, washing machine drum and detergent drawer, refrigerator seals and drip pan. Where buildup collects and nobody looks.
The air in the house
Filter age and size, bathroom fans, dryer vent lint, and damp basements and crawl spaces.
Water you don’t see
Slow leaks under sinks and behind appliances, and the water heater’s age and temperature setting.
Falls and reaching
Loose rugs, cords across walkways, what is stored above shoulder height, and whether there is a safe way to reach it.
Detectors
Smoke and carbon monoxide alarms — how many, where, and how old. They expire at ten years and almost nobody knows that.
What you get
A prioritized written plan
Everything we found, sorted into needs attention now, plan for this year and keep an eye on it.
Ballpark costs
What each item typically runs in this market, so nothing is a surprise later.
The right trade for each item
And, if you want it, an introduction to someone in our vetted network who does that work in Howard County.
A document you keep
Yours whether or not you ever hire us for anything else. Homeowners use it for budgeting, for insurance conversations, and for handing to a buyer’s agent.
What this is not
The Home Health Check is not a licensed home inspection and is not a substitute for one. We do not perform licensed trade inspections, and we do not issue reports for use in a real-estate transaction.
It is also not an environmental, air-quality or health assessment, and nothing in it is medical advice. Where we find something — buildup inside an appliance, a damp corner, chemicals stored somewhere they shouldn’t be — we describe what we see, tell you what we would do about it, and point you to a specialist if one is needed. We do not test, diagnose or treat.
Its purpose is simpler: to help you see everything your house needs in one place, and decide what to do first.
